OOMPA LOOMPAS DON'T NEED NOSES.

So I figured since I talk about style and fashion on a regular basis I’d actually show you people what I wear!

Please excuse the terrible quality photos...I take them in the mirror on the way out the door! And some you can’t see the whole outfit cause I’m all bundled up, but hey...it’s freaking cold out!

THERE ARE COMMUNISTS IN THE FUNHOUSE.

Originality.

Why does everyyyone try to take it away from us!

It boggles my mind that a place like Starbucks (where all us hipsters hang out) won’t allow tattoos or “unnatural” hair colours...

I always thought Starbucks was a place for the creative and unique to hang out, but apparently they aren’t allowed to work there! Why do people have such a problem with someone who wants to dye their hair pink? Or blue? Or purple!? Someone else’s hair colour has no effect on your life so why do you people care so much? I mean really...does someone else’s appearance matter to you sooo much that you feel a strong urge to bring it to the attention of the higher-ups? So they enforce silly rules that completely stifle all uniqueness within the work place?

I’ve had some people comment on my tattoos at work. The only ones you can see when I’m wearing my scrubs are the two little hearts on my wrists. Most people comment and say that they don’t normally like tattoos but those are actually kind of cute! That always brightens my day because it’s at least kind of helping to change their perception of tattoos. And once they start talking to me they understand that I am actually educated and that I just like to express my creativity and uniqueness on my body rather than the walls of my bedroom (since no one really enters my room except the boy and the bestie!). On the other hand you get the rare person who hates tattoos and they are not willing to budge on their opinion of them. I had one man, he was an elderly east indian man who has been living in Canada for the past 40 years, he was not a fan of tattoos at all. He told me even those tattoos might have meaning to me and I might like them, that they label me as someone who “sleeps around”. How two little heart tattoos on my wrists label me that way I’m not quite sure, but it just goes to show that some people will never change! I get that he’s “from a different time” and a different country and all, but here in Canada we don’t label those with tattoos as whores, we just don’t! People from all walks of life have tattoos, so that old saying: “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” really does apply.

My friends and I are rather unique people if I do say so myself! We find ourselves intentionally avoiding things because they are “too mainstream” and we hate popular stuff. This is what we call HIPSTER. We all know it, and I’m proud to be a hipster! I want to dye my hair bright pink and show off my tattoos! I want to wear clothing that most others wouldn’t dare even try on! I wish more people would stop caring what others think. Who cares if someone stares at you for wearing combat boots with a leopard print maxi-dress? They’re just jealous cause they would never be able to pull off that outfit ;)

On another note:

I finally got a memory foam mattress topper for my bed (to help my back) and it’s soo comfy! I just put it on today and I’ve been sitting on it all evening. I can’t wait to sleep on it and see how my back feels in the morning!

I’ve also been waiting the TV guide channel for 35 minutes...I should probably pick something to watch now...

And it's weird that for once the title actually kind of goes with the post...though if you google it, it means something completelyyy different...it is all the Sea Otter's fault.

BY ALL MEANS, MOVE AT A GLACIAL PACE.

I was at Starbucks recently (big shocker there) and I saw this lady who was standing in line to order her drink. Now I looked at her and thought she was relatively well dressed and that she was wearing a really cute jacket...and then I looked down...

Why is it that some people just completely forget that shoes, are in fact, PART OF THE OUTFIT. I don’t get it! What goes through your mind when you put on a super cute outfit and then decide to pair it with a loooovely (sarcasm intended) pair of white running shoes. Like legit running shoes. Like I could go run a marathon running shoes...

I know that “life is a marathon” and that you need to be comfortable and what not...but is there something inherently wrong with a nice pair of leather boots? Or even some stylish sneakers? I’m not saying you have to wear heels everyday...or even flats! But why on earth would you think that your adorable outfit goes well with running shoes? The only thing that goes well with running shoes is a pair of track pants and a tank or t-shirt.

I also don’t get people who dress stylishly and then don’t accessorize. Is it really that difficult to throw on some earrings and a necklace? Statement jewelry rocks. Matchy matchy jewelry however is a terrible thing. I hate those necklace and earring sets. They bother me. A lot. I mean I buy those sets, but I would never wear all the pieces together...that just seems silly to me!

Nail polish is probably my favourite accessory. Yes. It is an accessory. Don’t question it.

I have a fairly large collection of nail polish now and it’s getting ridiculous...I don’t have anywhere to put it! I keep all my make-up and nail polish and brushes in a tool box I got from Home Depot. ‘Cause I’m thaaat cool. Eventually I’m going to put some mirrors up and moves all of it to my desk and keep it all neat and sorted, (but, anyone who knows me, knows that it will take me a very long time to actually do. And shortly after I complete that task...it will become one big mess again!).

The bestie is heading back to school sooon. She’s taking a hair cutting/styling course and I can’t wait for her to do my hair! I want to dye it pink! I’ve been blonde foreverrr. I was born blonde and have only strayed from it a couple of times... I went dark brown twice, and I went red once and purple once. Yes. Purple.

I wear scrubs to work and everyone knows I hate being all uniformed! I like being unique and original and I hate when people try to take that away from me. People shouldn’t wear uniforms and be all the same. It stifles creativity and makes work less enjoyable! Unhappy employees = lesser quality of work, which = unhappy bosses...so why are uniforms necessary?

I’m a little afraid to show up to work one day with pink hair...so I’ll probably start with a lighter baby pink and take it from there!

Gotta catch 'em all, right?

OHHH NOOO...NOT JUNIOR RODEOOO.

Over the past little bit I've developed quite a fetish for nail polish...
...Like not even kidding...
I can't stop painting my nails in different ways. I get bored way too easily and if my current coat of paint doesn't go with what I'm going to wear next I HAVE to re-paint them. I basically do a different style every day or two...and it's not just soli
d colours (cause that would be waaay to boring) it ends up being whatever colours I decide will go with my outfit at that moment in time!

And I have discovered the most awesome thing every when it comes to nail polish...it totally owns the crap out of nail polish that just won't dry! The boys are probably laughing right now, but for women it's probably one of the most annoying things in the world...nail polish that won't dry is such a pain in the ass! You get finger prints all over it and if you touch something you get dents in the nail polish and it's ridiculous! But I found this amazing stuff at Sephora a while ago, it's called Sephora by O.P.I. quick dry spray, and it comes in a little 60ml (2 Fl.Oz.) spray bottle and it's honestly one of the best products I've ever bought. I think it's like $16 for the spray bottle that will last a couple months (even if you paint your nails every day like me!). So ladies, I suggest that you pick that spray up the next time you make a trip to Sephora...it literally dries your nail polish instantly and it really saves you a lot of time!
(Might also make a great stocking stuffer!)
____________________________________________________________________

Now I've told quite a few people that I'm done with tattoos for a while...so I'm sticking to that!

I have one idea for a tattoo that I want, but it's quite different than all the other ones I have so I told myself I'm going to think about it, and if I still want it in a year from now, I'll get it! So by the time my birthday rolls around next year, if I still want it, then it will be my birthday present to myself. Sounds silly that for my birthday I want to go sit in a chair and put myself through 2+ hours of pain, but any one with a tattoo will understand! :)

On another note:

Soooooo much politics at work it's getting ridiculous. I will never understand why people let themselves get so bitter that they have to pick on people for no reason whatsoever. Just a tip for anyone with authority in an office...if you want your employees to actually work and do their job well...try not treating them like crap! There is no one on the planet who has a strong desire to do their best for someone who hates your face! Seriously people...lets get back to basics and "treat others the way you want to be treated". Sounds so elementary, but it seems rather forgotten these days.

Oh...
And apparently I've gotten so pasty that I actually cannot find a liquid foundation that is light enough for me. Even porcelain is too dark. #whitegirlproblems.

MEXICAN BULLDOG.

Happy Halloweekend!

So last night the most epic game of costume laser tag was held...we all got some pretty strange looks but we raaaped. 3 games and 2 high score players in our group! And the rest of us were mostly ranked at the top, so we did pretty well ;)

After laser tag we all went to Applebee's for dinner/drinks and it was nice to talk with everyone again! You kind of realize after high school that no one just really gets together and talks anymore. Birthdays are a nice way to get people together, cause if it's just a "hang out" rather than a party some people decide they just don't "feel like it" or something and you don't get to see people! But everyone gets brought together again for birthdays, and I've got at least 3 more birthdays to attend before the end of the year! So I should get some socializing in there somewhere!

Do any other girls find painting your fingernails to be a pain in the ass? I always end up touching something and screwing up the freshly painted coat that I just put on :/ even when I try to be super careful! I tend to have to paint my nails a couple times before I can get it to look okay (and not have any strange indents or fingerprints in the polish...) but when I was at Sephora the other day (with the Sea Otter!) I saw this stuff sitting beside the stand of nail polish...it totally made my day! It's called quick dry spray and it pretty much makes it so your nail polish dries in like 10 seconds. I put some nail polish on in the store to try it, sprayed my nail with the quick dry spray...then touched it like 5 seconds later and it was completely dry! So I'm super happy now because I don't have to spend a million years painting my nails :) and yes boys, I know you don't care...but for most girls this is a big deal! ;)

Oh and I also have realized I'm not so great at applying fake eye-lashes...I bought some little ones and I could not for the life of me get them put in the right spot! Took me like a half-hour yesterday to get them to look decent for the party! And now I'm going out again tonight (cause it's Halloweekend!) and I put them on again, and they look better today than they did yesterday...but I still need a lottt more practice!

TWICE IN ONE DAY I FIND MYSELF IN BEWILDERMENT!

I'm finally 19! Woot!
Went out for the "first drink" with the boyfriend and had a very yummy Main St. Rita (mango, wildberry smoothie thing-a-mabob with tequila!) and some dessert :)

I have turned my birthday party (happening this weekend) into an epic game of lazertag...in costume...cause we're cool like that.

After re-organzing and painting my bedroom I feel a lot more "grown-up"...my room is now a lovely grey with an accent wall of a darker charcoal grey. It used to be a turquoise-y blue that I chose when I was 10 years old. And now I have a place to hang up all my new clothes that I bought with my birthday money :)
I bought a really pretty new winter coat! And some other clothes...and shoes...and make-up...and a new bra! My back has been hurting a lot again lately so I'm hoping that having a bra that actually holds up my chest will help balance me out! And I have made it into a size 6 at H&M...which is a fairly nice accomplishment since I used to wear a size 10-12 on a regular basis!

I'd much rather be the size that I am now than a size zero...I'm not even sure how that is a size? I don't understand why people try to get themselves that skinny...the majority of the guys on the planet have agreed that people that skinny look unhealthy and would much rather date a "real woman" who has some curves! I'm a healthy 145 lbs (give or take 2-3 pounds!)...which is a good weight for my size (considering I'm barely 5'5") and I'm quite happy with myself now! My goal before wasn't to lose weight it was to be healthy, and now that I'm healthy I feel better and I'm not going to try to lose anymore! If it happens it happens, but I'd rather eat yummy, delicious food (and my starbucks!) than have to diet to lose a few pounds! Happy and healthy is much better than sad and skinny :)

I DUNNO, IS YOUR MOTHER A NUMBER?

Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.

Cleaning of two kinds has occurred over the past week! Finally cleaned up my facebook friends list, got rid of over 100 "friends". And now I'm cleaning my bedroom...a lot...so I can paint. I'm sick of the bright blue/turquoise that my walls are right now, so I'm painting it grey (or rather my mother is painting it grey...but I picked out the colours!). 3 walls will be a lighter grey and one wall is going to be a dark charcoal-ish grey!

The Sea Otter and I have both decided to go back to school. It's an awesome school in downtown Vancouver and she's going for Hair and I'm going for Fashion Business! We've both had to post-pone our start dates though...but it was so we could keep our jobs...which is rather important when your student loans end up being over $10,000...
It would be really fantastic if school wasn't so expensive. I would have gone into fashion right out of high school...but sadly I don't just keep $15,000 in my bank account "just in case" I need it. It would be pretty awesome if I did have that much in my bank account though!
My course apparently comes with a crap tonne of homework and projects and studying. Which records have shown I'm not that great at. I'm attempting to change all that and I'll be getting some help from the friends and the boy along the way! I will need someone to make me do my homework instead of sitting and staring at it...hoping it will somehow do itself...

On another note...
My boyfriend sucks. He got me addicted to playing Zombie Lane on facebook. And it is taking away from the time that I should be using to clean my bedroom. So if my room doesn't get completely finished by the end of today I blame him.
(Love you babe! <3)
His punishment is a rather large hickey and now he has to play scrabble with me on facebook (so I can kick his butt).
